fandom life

To-do, fandom-wise:

femgenficathon  due July 31.

Castielfest  due August 9.

Narnia Fic Exchange due August 30.

And then I also just signed up for spnsupporting, which, praise the flatbread, has no specific deadline.  Plus I want to finish my Lucy/Ramandu's daughter, and I still have that half-done Anna fic floating around.  And an Edmund LWW vid, and an end-of-Who5 vid.  And I want to write poetry, too, but I never have time or inspiration for more than a few lines.

Also I bought, when I got The Magicians (arrrgh), Stardust, so I want to read that, and I've yet to finish Good Omens, and my brother got the new Rick Riordan for his birthday so I want to read that, too, and I have to sort through all my family's Pratchett to see what I've not read yet and what I want to steal, and also I am long overdue for a reread of the Madeleine L'Engle books.

I did the friending thing today via an awesome female characters friending meme, which is really cool.  Yay new friends!  I talk about myself and my life and my fannishness all the time here, obviously, but it seems to be the thing to do to put up a little something by way of welcome and introduction, so.

Hi, I'm Meto, I'm a going-to-be second year college student.  American, West Coast, of European-mutt descent.  Only girl of four kids in my family, liberal, mostly-non-political, Catholic.  I'm studying literature and history, and I have no idea what I'll do with it - probably teach? I love reading, and writing, and music; I like to swim and to play soccer though I don't do enough of either anymore.  My favorite fandoms are Narnia, Supernatural, Merlin, and Dr Who/Torchwood, though I can easily get gleeful over any number of tv shows, movies, and books.  My greatest ambition in life is to have a room devoted to my personal library with wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling rows of shelves, sliding ladders, and lots of well-loved and also plenty of untouched and pretentious books.  I also like to bake and to paint my nails and to watch Disney movies.  Annnd I've run out of things to say about myself.  Welcome welcome new friends, I love finding other people who love the same crazy stuff that I do!

I want a library like that some day too! I have dreams of a study with wall-to-wall bookcases filled with all my fantasy books and also Shakespeare and things, and then religious books right at the top, just like my dad did at home. And a big collection of kids' books, of course. :D

When I was at home, for a while we had a bookshelf in our living room that covered the entirety of one wall and was filled with all sorts of books, from my dad's engineering manuals to our childhood picture books. It was amazing. :D

Long to-do list is long! And I have a question that may possibly make it longer. Did I send you a chapter last week? I can't remember, and seeing as I obsessively erase my outbox, I have no way of checking. I am a danger to my own sanity sometimes.

And yay for Stardust and Good Omens! I love both of them! (And just bought The Magicians, but seeing your argh am afraid to read it.)

You did, and it's actually ahead of all those things on my list - I'm just about finished getting through my backlog of emails from camping and I have the document open and read through once, so you should be getting that back in the next couple of days! Sometimes I just need a reminder, so thanks for this!

Re: The Magicians. I really do recommend reading it. It's well-written, and I adored the first part, and despite the argh, or even because of it, it's really good for making me think. Plus, I want people to talk to about it :D

My greatest ambition in life is to have a room devoted to my personal library with wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling rows of shelves, sliding ladders, and lots of well-loved and also plenty of untouched and pretentious books.

That is pretty much my life's ambition tooo!! I saw this picture once, in a home-decor magazine, of a bi-level apartment where the kitchen (and i dunno what else) was under the bedroom, and the living room walls were all filled with floor-to-2nd-story midlevel (about the height of the balcony railing?) shelves alternating with tall sunny windows, with lovely rolling wood ladders... and I was just like, "THAT. THAT IS MY DREAM HOME."

I approve of your reading list and greatest ambition!

ALSO WHAT LUCY/RD TELL ME MORE.

Hehehe. It was originally the mostest awesomest LaRM. She said something to me along the lines of 'shall we ship Lucy with Ramandu's daughter?' and I replied HELL TO THE YES. So I am writing a little something for my lovely girls, shamelessly killing canon to give them more time together than just the one day they're on the island in the book. They run around on the beach and talk about names and age and freedom and Caspian and it's totally my current ship obsession (other than Lucian) and I'm praying that the fic will turn out the way I want it.

[identity profile] metonomia.livejournal.com 2010-07-10 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know!! It's not nearly done and I have lots of other deadlined things to write, but definitely sometime this summer!

BRILLIANT.
