I hope we don't spoil Buffy for you, Metonomia, if you haven't seen all seven seasons yet.

As Gaius spluttered over that outrageous and unexpected statement, Merlin looked at her with interest. "Vengeance demon?" he asked politely, choosing to ignore the rest of her words.
"Oh yeah. I was a goddess for a thousand years, the patroness of spited women. They appealed to me for vengeance against their lovers." She smiled, fondly thinking back to the good times of her past. "It was fun."
Merlin coughed quietly into his hand. "I--uh--I'm sure it was."
Anyanka stared at him shrewdly. "You haven't done anything to warrant vengeance yet, I suppose. Otherwise, I would have heard." She looked past him toward something else further away. "Now, he looks like the type of man I normally go after."
Merlin turned his head, following her gaze. His heart quickened a few beats as his eyes found the focus of her attention. Oh no. He silently prayed that Arthur wouldn't do anything foolish in front of these strangers. Especially in front of this supposed Vengeance Demon.
"Wait a minute." Her sharp voice drew his attention once more. She looked between Gaius and himself, dark eyes widening as she realized something. "Did he say your name was Merlin?"
"Yes, I'm--" the young wizard began before Gaius interrupted.
"Don't say another word, Merlin." The physician manged to recover in time to stop his young charge from revealing any more of the truth and about their past.
"But--" Merlin stopped as Gaius silenced him with a warning look.
"Not another word." The older man turned to the woman. "You know, don't you?" he asked her, a hint of accusation in his voice.
"Of course I know. I've lived far longer than you, old man, and I will do so long after you have passed from this world. And I know all about Camelot and Uther Pendragon." There was a hint of disdain as she spoke the king's name. "Which is why we're here."
