metonomia: (brothers before all)
This is a post to talk about a couple of things that I love very, very much.  Namely, Supernatural and U2.  I'll talk about U2 first, because that's been around longer, and honestly is probably a greater and more enduring love than SPN, though my love for U2 has increased exponentially upon marrying it with SPN.

I don't think that anyone in this world hates U2.  I know plenty of people who don't really love the music; they wouldn't choose to listen to it or they like some songs but not others, or it's not really their style of music or Bono's vocal quality isn't their thing.  But I have never had someone tell me that they hate U2.  And for me, it's a timeless love.  I probably listened to U2 as a fetus, and it's been around my house since forever.  One of my older brothers was really into them for awhile, and we have all the music.  And I just love it.  A couple of songs aren't so great, but for the most part I adore everything they touch.  The first music video I ever saw was for 'Beautiful Day' (lol, on MTV, and my friend and I sat there giggling because omg they were making out in the airport ahahhaha we're 8 years old that's so gross!) I fangirl them all so much.  Bono is a fantastic human being, in my opinion, a great singer and while some people criticise his humanitarian work I've always found it very sincere and wonderful.  He really uses his celebrity status well, I think. (and oh god, his dorky dance moves!  so funny and really adorable) The Edge is of course simply one of the best guitarists of the times, and he and Bono together create such amazing songs, the lyrics and music so perfect and strong and wonderful.  I admittedly don't know that much about either Adam Clayton or Larry Mullen, Jr, but obviously the band wouldn't be what it is without them, and they are fantastic as well, if not as individually famous.  [Funny story - except it's not funny - one of my parish priests gave a homily one time in which he told the story of how he shook some singer dude's hand one time and apparently it was this guy called Bono. I just about died. I mean. I have this list of people who it would complete my life to meet - Bono is way up on the top of that list.  He's joined by people like Misha Collins and Stephen Colbert and Pope John Paul II (this obvs will never happen, weep weep) and Nelson Mandela and the Queen.  Anyway, I almost cried right there in church when I realized that Fr. Bob had shaken Bono's hand without even recognizing who he was]

Then of course there's Supernatural, which I love love love.  And a few weeks ago zempasuchil brought these two great loves together by making a Winchesters U2 mix that blew my mind.  It rekindled the flame of my love for U2 from an ever-smoldering light to a roaring bonfire (yes, I love them enough to write my feelings in cheesy metaphors) and now I spend hours listening to my entire U2 library looking for Supernatural songs.  They're so perfect.  Bono LOVES the Winchesters, guys, and he loves Castiel and Anna and even Zachariah.  Sometimes even Lucifer and Ruby.  He writes a ton of songs about this show.  I have about ten Winchester-U2 fanvids plotted out in my head, and ahoaiehaoihg I don't even know, it just makes me so happy!

So tonight I was casually listening to U2 again and I listened more carefully than usual to 'White As Snow,' from their latest album (No Line On The Horizon), and just:
