I'm shocked, too.  And it wasn't really fandom, but it was decidedly fannish!  I forget how we got onto the subject but I think it was because she asked me if I liked the Eclipse movie (my mom really really likes Twilight.  I don't even know.  It's like how I enjoy it and like to talk about it, except she really just LIKES it.  I like it but mainly because I like talking about/fixing/bashing it's problems while lauding the supporting characters, while she just thinks it's really really great fun.  We do agree that it's not well-written, though.  I admire my mom and her intellect a lot, but her general choice in reading tends to be of the 'trashy' - her word - detective-y murder mystery type, and, yeah.  We don't tend to discuss our respective reading much.  And she was the one who first heard about Twilight and thought it sounded awesome and bought me the book.).  ANYWAY, it turned into a great dinner conversation about how cool it would be to have class with Emma Watson and how brilliant it must have been to grow up literally at Hogwarts.  And then I said YEAH, AND THOSE LUCKY KIDS WHO GREW UP IN NARNIA, and she didn't even laugh at me!

It was really cool.

So.  Been rewatching angsty Who/Torchwood bits, because Betsy and I have been angsting over Ianto and Daniel and their respective cohorts and ... why not? Anywho, got to Cyberwoman, and even though I should be finishing my fic-in-bar or writing the reviews I need to do, I did this instead.

Things I've learned being home these last few days:
+ I am extraordinarily pale.  Of course I knew this, objectively, but I really didn't notice it for real until I got home and the sun was shining and lo, I look like death.  I don't think I've ever been this white in my life.
+ Foooood.  I cannot wait until I have my own legit kitchen so that I can make legit food because YUM, my mom's cooking is really good.
+ I rather enjoy driving, and I kind of wish I actually had a car at school. Oh well.

I still have about a gazillion reviews I owe people.  They're coming, really.

OMG, these videos.  [livejournal.com profile] be_themoon showed them to me, and seriously. Torchwood/Dr Who vids, so gorgeous, so sob-inducing. I love these characters so much!

I'm rather shocked that my computer hasn't just blown up completely.
From Friday 'til now, I have:
Watched 18 episodes of Torchwood, including Children of Earth;
Watched 23 episodes of Merlin;
Read a 40K word commentfic that broke my brain;
Read a totally freaking awesome review for a story I adore;
Helped begin a different commentfic;
And even read the introduction to the Qur'an and the texbook section on art of the early Protestant Reformation.

All that television didn't sound so bad in my head until I saw it typed out there.  Yikes.  Fandom, you make my brain into mush, but I love thee muchly.
