Went to watch The Lion King with a few of my besties tonight, while we all happen to be home at the same time (thank you, universe).  This is of course The Lion King on tape, played through a VCR, because even though we are 21st century adults (hahahaha), we were 20th century kids first, and hello, all the good commercials are on the videocassette!  So of course the first ten minutes or so were spent singing along to the Pocahontas preview and making plans to watch every movie made from about 1994 to 2000 (Pocahontas! Robin Hood! The Little Mermaid!  Angels in the Outfield! The Aristocats! Hercules! Mulan! The Lion King II! Tarzan!) over the summer.
Then we sang/said the entirety of the movie.  I would insert a facepalm here but I am not remotely ashamed of this.   Sometimes I think that Pocahontas is a prettier movie than TLK, but TLK has so many gorgeous scenes (see below); sometimes I think that Aladdin/Pocahantas/Hercules has better music, but every single song in TLK is amazing, plus the score was done by Hans Zimmer, plus they took all the bits of Swahili music and turned out an album called Rhythm of the Pride Lands which is awesome; and sometimes I think other movies are more lasting and meaningful and well-done, but then I watch The Lion King and still love it after seeing it countless times, and still laugh at and find new puns, and still adore all the supporting characters, and still cry when those animated tears drip down Simba's face - and I just know that this is always going to be my favorite movie.

Prettyyyyy.
The adorable little animated mouse - who *doesn't* get eaten.
Jeremy Irons and James Earl Jones.  Playing Claudius and err...the king, in lion form.
This movie teaches the meaning of big words, like 'betrothed.' And it has a British person in service to an African royal family.
Strong female characters part 1: "Pinned ya again." Nalaaaaaaaa.
Shenzi, Bonzai, and Ed.  Their puns are to die for.
The best way of defining stars I have ever heard.
THIS.
Look at that face!  I *always* cry with him.  And in the previous scenes, with the stampede and Mufasa being so heroic and amazing, the music includes the use of Mozart's Requiem.  Ahhhmazing.
These guys.  "Hakuna Matata...what a wonderful phrase."
That would be Yorick, right there.
Prettyyyyyyy. You'd better be feeling the love tonight for this movie.
Yes, Nala is eye-sexing Simba.
"Correction. I know your father." Rafiki is bomb. He is amazing.  He is just the coolest baboon (but he's not a baboon, really, he's a mandrill) there has ever been.
Prettyyyyyy.  And the music here is fabulous. "Busa simba iyo."
"What d'you want me to do? Dress in drag and do the hula?" And then he does.  Complete with pelvic thrusts.  Because Timon (+ Pumbaa) = win.
Strong female characters part 2: Sarabiiiiiiii.
Once again - Rafiki. The coolest not-baboon ever.
So horrifically beautiful.  The colors, the slow-motion, the music!
And as the rain washes his kingdom clean and green once more, Simba ascends the throne in this lovely scene, the most gorgeous part of which is the music - Hans Zimmer is just a genius.  As is every single person attached to the making of this movie.

There were a lot more, but this is already a huuuge amount of pictures.  I am feeling the love though.  I love this movieeeee.
