So, my test-post over on LJ seemed to NOT cross-post over here, so now I need to check to see if this one will indeed cross-post over there. Le sigh.
What to say....?
Oh! I signed up for the femgenficathon (http://community.livejournal.com/femgenficathon/), and I am very excited to do that. I got #4: I was thought to be 'stuck up.' I wasn't. I was just sure of myself. This is and always has been an unforgivable quality to the unsure.--Bette Davis (1908-1989), Academy-Award-winning American actress, author, co-founder and president of the Hollywood Canteen, a WWII club offering free food, drink and entertainment to men and women in all branches of the armed forces and to service people of all allied countries, and first female president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Obviously, I shall be writing about Susan. Though...maybe Lucy. Maybe both! But probably Susan.

Date: 2010-04-19 05:21 pm (UTC)Firstly, as you've noticed, crossposting only works one-way - that is, you set up where you'd like to crosspost *to* in Dreamwidth, and then when you post at Dreamwidth your post is crossposted to LJ, etc. Unfortunately there's no easy way to do it the other way, so it'll probably always be one-way. Sorry about that!
Secondly, what problems did you have with OpenID? The reason I ask is that if there's a problem with the process, or it's not easy to do, we'd love to fix that. How did you go about doing it?
Thanks, and again, I hope this is okay. If not, I'm sorry for intruding!
- Sophie.

Date: 2010-04-19 08:33 pm (UTC)With OpenID, I don't think it was any sort of problem with the process or the site - I don't remember exactly what was going wrong, but it was something to do with me trying to use my .livejournal id to make an open id as it looked like I was supposed to, but it wouldn't work. I'm pretty sure it has more to do with my computer incompetency than with Dreamwidth!

Date: 2010-04-19 08:48 pm (UTC)For the record, the way it's *supposed* to work is one of two ways:
1. Go to http://www.dreamwidth.org/openid/ , and in the URL box, enter "metonomia.livejournal.com", then click Login.
2. On a post where you can comment, click to do so. A page will come up that will ask how you want to do it - anonymous, OpenID, or Dreamwidth account. (If you don't get that, you're probably already logged in; in that case you can click on "More Options" to get to this page.) Click on "OpenID", then enter "metonomia.livejournal.com". Then enter the comment you want as normal and post it.
In both cases, you'll be taken back to LiveJournal to confirm that you're okay with it. You can either click "Yes; just this time" or "Yes; always" depending on if you want it confirmed each time. After that, you'll be logged in as OpenID or have had the comment posted, depending on what you did :D
That's how it should work, anyway. Do you remember anything about why it didn't work for you?

Date: 2010-04-25 01:34 pm (UTC)But also, um, ARAVIS?!
(How do you get a DW and is it worth it for me to get one? Everyone else is crossposting so maybe I should succumb to peer pressure...)

Date: 2010-04-25 07:55 pm (UTC)As for DW, yeah, I got it b/c everyone else was, just so I have it. I did NOT want to pay, so I just waited until someone posted that they had a startup code free, and then used that. If I get codes sometime (I don't know how you do, I think maybe they randomly give them to you to hand out?) then I will give one to you.
